Canon USA Introduces “Broadcast-Style Firmware Update” from enabling compact-servo lenses on the EOS R5 with the EF-EOS R 0.71x adapter for full control of the 18-80 or 70-200mm lenses including autofocus, auto exposure and image stabilization, with the standard 1.6x image crop.
From Canon USA:
“Professional-grade Remote Production tools can now fit in the palm of your hand, thanks to new firmware updates from Canon that enable compatibility between the dynamic EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera and the popular COMPACT-SERVO series of lenses.”
“With the updates, you’ll be able to use the EF – EOS R 0.71x adapter to connect your 18-80 or 70-200mm lenses to the EOS R5 and have full control functionality of autofocus, auto exposure and image stabilization, with the standard 1.6x image crop. Using the EOS Utility software, you’ll now be able to remotely operate zoom, focus, and iris control on the lenses. Zoom and focus demands can also be attached to the lens for broadcast-style operation on a tripod. Functionality has also been added for metadata recoding and display as well as optical correction tools.”
